Fight the Flu: Two Ways to Receive an Annual Shot

Influenza, “the flu,” is a very contagious disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone receives an annual vaccination.

Getting a shot each year helps keep you, your family, your coworkers—your community—healthy.

UFH offers two convenient ways to provide you and your family to get their flu shot. This year, we are fighting the flu with FLUARIX, a second generation vaccine, imported from Germany for RMB 99.

1) UFHH now provides home vaccination services with our Executive Medical Care package.

  What? Your flu shot, in the comfort of your own home (≤ 6 individuals).

  Cost? UFH Home Flu Shot Service (RMB 998) + flu shot (RMB 99) × number of people.

2) Individuals and families can visit Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics to receive their flu shot. Companies or organizations (15+ individuals) can also make an appointment for an on-site flu clinic.

For your information: Can you fight the flu without a shot?

The Chinese CDC noted that starting in October of 2013, flu activity increased in most Chinese provinces. The dangers and destructive nature of the flu is much worse than commonly thought. The flu has the greatest impact on young children, the elderly, and patients with chronic diseases. The flu may also lead to further complications such as late-stage pneumonia, myocarditis, and otitis media, which can lead to life-threatening conditions.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 300-500 million people contract the flu each year—and 250-500 million people die from complications.

Families, schools, and offices have the highest incidence of the flu, with up to 80% of the ill contracting it at home. If you don’t work towards prevention, your family may become a “hotbed,” spreading the flu to other families. According the American Academy of Family Physicians, the flu can lead to a third of family members contracting the disease, while the average rate of flu incidence is 10-20%.
